This chocolate mousse is so simple yet so sophisticated and has only four ingredients! This is the perfect treat to ring in the new year, or for any holiday at that! Recipe adapted from Danelle from Let’s Dish Blog.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 4 ounces good quality semi sweet chocolate, chopped (I use Lindt)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream, divided

Instructions

  1. In a large pot mix marshmallows, chocolate and milk. Melt over medium low heat, stirring constantly until marshmallows and chocolate are melted together. Cool completely.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat cream until stiff peaks form. Remove 1/2 cup of whipping cream and set aside (this will be used to top mousse).
  3. Gently fold cooled chocolate mixture in whipped cream, in 2 additions until well mixed. Make sure there are no lumps.
  4. Spoon or pipe into dessert dishes. Refrigerate until set, about 1 hour.
  5. Serve with whipping cream and raspberries. I also topped my mousse with chocolate shavings.

Notes

This recipe calls for at least 1 hour of refrigeration, I did not find it necessary.

Make sure to refrigerate your mousse in its serving dishes, as once it’s cold the texture will change and will not look smooth (that’s what happened in my photos).
